Road Trip

Last weekend I had the chance to go on a road trip. A Korean friend from church drove me and two other friends to Gwangju, which is in the southwest of Korea. It was a lot of fun. Here are some pictures.

Plaque at the Democracy Memorial. Click for larger size. This happened only 29 years ago. Korea hasn't been a true Republic for that long. For years it was ruled by strongmen, dictators, and generals.

Below are two videos of the Cemetery/Memorial. The one on the left is taken just outside the entrance, while the one on the right is of the memorial itself.

The Memorial was sculpted in the shape of two hands, holding a rock symbolizing all of humanity.
